Therapy for Life Changes

Move through change and stay grounded.

Changes in our lives can throw us off.

I am unsure of whether I can handle this new space. I don’t know what to do in this new role.

Other people in my life don’t understand what I’m going through.

I am worried that my identity will change, or that I am losing my sense of who I am.

I am worried about how other people will see me.

I don’t know who I am without the person whom I’ve lost. And now I’m feeling all kinds of things I have kept down for so long.

My new relationship or relationship status is really scary and I feel overwhelmed. I thought it was going to make me happy but I’m feeling confused and lost.

Covid totally messed up the life that I thought I’d have. There’s too much happening at once, and I can’t focus on anything.

When our life changes, we change.

Big changes in our life force us to come to terms with the new reality around us. Many of us can get “stuck” when changes happen in our lives. Clearly our world is different, but it can be hard to know what to do, or how to adapt.

If you are experiencing a big change in your life or have recently gone through an unexpected event, these feelings are normal.

It could be getting married, losing a job, an illness or death of a loved one, a new relationship, moving to a new city, or any number of changes in your life that have left you feeling ungrounded, overwhelmed, or like you don’t know who you are.

Therapy can help us to embrace change and still be ourselves.

Therapy can help you to manage new realities and to address the ways that we have to deal with new situations.

The capacity for dealing with big changes is already within you. We will build on your existing strengths and use those to develop ways to cope with the difficult things life can throw at you.

While it often feels that life is happening to you, therapy will help put you in the driver’s seat. It helps you to choose how you will move forward, and to make decisions as your most authentic self.
