Licensed Therapist, Art Therapist, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional

Meet Renae

You deserve a therapist who gets you

It can be hard to find a therapist who understands how your traumatic experiences as a queer person, your gender identity, your role as an artist, and/or your religious trauma affect your mental health and well-being.

You deserve a therapist who gets you and knows how to support you without making you feel alienated. (You should not have to educate your therapist.) You deserve knowledgeable, non-judgmental mental health support to help you live a happy, authentic, and fulfilling life.

Together, we’ll use your strengths and creative expression to develop healthy tools for coping with stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

We’ll build your confidence, self-esteem, and boundaries so that you can enjoy healthy, loving relationships with good communication. We’ll work to heal wounds from the past and change harmful habits so that you can go after what you really want.

Imagine trusting yourself to be able to handle any challenge that comes your way.

Imagine confidently asking for what you really want.

Imagine loving yourself so much, you never settle for less than what you deserve.

Imagine what opportunities & adventures would be available to you if you enjoyed good mental health on most days.

All of this is possible for you.

Your trauma doesn’t have to keep you stuck. Reach out today to get started.

Founding OSTC

I have a deep commitment to advancing mental health care for the LGBTQ+ community and our allies. As the founder and CEO of Open Space Therapy Collective, my team and I built OSTC because I believe mental health care should be unapologetically affirming, deeply inclusive, and centered on the unique needs of queer and trans folks. We deserve therapy that actually gets us.

At my core, I’m a connector, a creator, and a relentless advocate for making queer- and trans-informed care the professional standard—not the exception. I also host My Therapist is Out!, a podcast where I explore mental health through a queer lens, because let’s be real, we need more conversations that actually reflect our lived experiences.

am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California (6018) and board certification as an Art Therapist (16-199). I received my Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.

Self-care and play

I am a queer, non-binary/gender fluid person who is big into snuggling with my ridiculously goofy greyhound Zsa Zsa. I still have an art practice, and like most artists, our relationship status is, “It’s complicated.”

I developed a plant habit during the pandemic lock-down, and they’ve gone viral. And I love being here in Los Angeles. I’ve lived all over the country, and I’m endlessly grateful to live in a warm climate, surrounded by palm trees in a diverse and wild city with endless opportunities for exploring.
